{"id":208,"date":"2008-10-24T14:00:22","date_gmt":"2008-10-24T13:00:22","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.elementally.co.uk\/presentation-skills-blog\/?p=208"},"modified":"2008-10-24T14:00:22","modified_gmt":"2008-10-24T13:00:22","slug":"what-makes-a-good-presenter","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.awareplus.co.uk\/presentation-skills-blog\/what-makes-a-good-presenter\/","title":{"rendered":"What makes a good presenter?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Rather like an elephant, you know it when you see it.<\/p>\n<p>For me, presentations are about two things<\/p>\n<li>penetration &#8211; getting something into someone&#8217;s head; and<\/li>\n<li>retention &#8211; making sure it stays there.<\/li>\n<p>One of my favorite poets Maya Angelou once commented that people will forget what you said and that they&#8217;ll even forget what you did but they&#8217;ll remember how you made them feel&#8230; so to me, a good presenter is someone who not only explains and delivers the facts, but also makes people <em>feel<\/em> something about those facts.<\/p>\n<p>Of course, that&#8217;s easier said than done &#8211; and perhaps massively obvious &#8211; but sometimes it does no harm to restate the obvious.  :)   Presentations are about both content <strong>and<\/strong> delivery&#8230;&#8230; Neither is worth anything on their own.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Rather like an elephant, you know it when you see it.
