Someone asked me about  spotting them on their slides and I&#8217;m afraid my response wasn&#8217;t all together sympathetic.  Why?  Because a good slide shouldn&#8217;t have enough words on it to form a clich\u00c3\u00a9 in the first place!<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" align=\"right\" title=\"a clich\u00c3\u00a9 or an icon?\" alt=\"a clich\u00c3\u00a9 or an icon?\" src=\"http:\/\/farm1.static.flickr.com\/66\/173887619_245dee7ab3.jpg?v=0\" \/>The only two exceptions are<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>when you&#8217;re quoting the whole phrase, knowingly, and a good deal of your presentation is about the clich\u00c3\u00a9 as your subject matter, or<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>when you&#8217;re using a visual clich\u00c3\u00a9 as an icon of some kind.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Slides should have as few word as possible &#8211; none is my ideal!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In my last post I rambled on about clich\u00c3\u00a9s in your presentation.
