Breakthrough! with AwarePlus

Breakthrough! is the modular training programme for professionals run by Aware Plus Ltd and it works like this....

There comes a point in a professional career where people are 'technically competent'. That's true of accountants, architects, solicitors or whoever. But that alone isn't enough to bring out the best in them. Before they can move up from working on other people's projects (probably very well!) to running their own projects, they've got to Breakthrough! and get to grips with a whole raft of other, softer skills. Skills that increase their productivity, everyone's client base, and your bottom line.

Skills like...

delegating and motivating

Knowing what to tackle yourself and what to pass on can be a tricky business. What's more, once you've passed on the work, you've only passed on the work, not the responsibility for that work - which means you need to know how to motivate people to do things as well as you'd do them yourself... or better. (More details.)

confidence and assertiveness

Whether we're born confident or whether it's learned, almost everyone has something they want to improve. Confidence isn't about breezing through life never being anxious or nervous - it's about feeling those things but being able to act despite them. (More details.)

negotiating

Negotiating isn't about grinding the other party down - it's about getting what you need. In fact, if you can do that without 'beating the other guy' so much the better as they're likely to come back for more. Finding the middle ground to do this without being taken advantage of is a useful skill for any professional. (More details.)

team working and leadership

Sometimes you just can't do it all alone. Understanding what makes a combination of people tick - along with what brings them down and builds them up - is a major skill. Just putting a group of people to work on the same project doesn't make them 'a team' and you could end up with the sum being less than the sum of the parts. But if you get it right, your team can pay you back spectacularly! (More details.)

presenting and pitching

Everyone presents. Some people just don't know it and some people hate it. It's often cited as the world's most common fear and it's more often a missed opportunity. Fortunately there are clear guidlines for presenting which make the whole process more effective and less stressful. (More details.)

minimising your stress and managing your staff's

Stress is often cited as the most common source of absenteeism. Knowing what to do about it when it arises is important - but not as important in knowing how to spot it early and stopping it before it gets serious. (More details.)

emotional intelligence

Understanding other people is the nearest thing there is to the key to sucess. It isn't, of course, but without so called "EQ" you're going to find things a lot harder whenever you have to talk to anyone, or understand their point of view... and understanding their point of view is the basis of getting on with them, working with them, negotiating with them......(More details.)

To really get the best out of your staff you need them to move up a gear - to move up from simply "being good at their chosen profession" to "being a good professional". The Breakthough! programme helps them - and you - do exactly that.

Who can Breakthrough! with AwarePlus?

Breakthrough is currently only available to professonals in the north east of England. To qualify for the programme you simply need to live in the region and be an organisation with a professional staff. Typically, we'd expect to work with groups of eight to 12 of your 'up and coming' professionals in any one programme.

Programmes can consist of a number of modules, agreed by you in advance, and delivered in either day or half-day sessions depending on what's most appropriate.
