Okay, so you know we do presentation skills training, right? What you probably don’t know is our relatively strict policy on who we won’t train. Here you go…
Politics, religion and so on
We believe that everyone has the right to their own political, religious and other view. We’ll train anyone, from any party or religion (but see below)
Don’t be evil
Taking the Google motto as a slogan, we won’t train you if you want to use your newfound presentation skills to spread loathsome, vile, evil or pernicious points of view. So no one who wants to become a more effective racist, for example.
Amateurs only (sort of!)
Okay, we will train professional speakers but our default is to train people who have a ‘real job’ that means they have to speak, rather than people whose job is (or who want it to be!) a professional speaker.
Why? Because we don’t want to get involved with anyone who wants to
- speak for the sake of speaking, to hear their own voice
- speak as part of their own therapy, to come to terms with bad stuff thats happened to them in the past
- speak for the sake of making themselves feel important.
Fair enough?
To be honest, this one’s a bit blurry and we tend to treat each case on an individual basis, balanced with other things.
Workers of the world unite
Learning how to make better presentations is pretty hard work. We reserve the right to say ‘no thanks’ if we’re not convinced you’re serious. That doesn’t mean you can’t have a laugh (God knows we do) but you need to work at least as hard as you laugh.
And the equivalent of a quite giggle might not be enough.
