Somebody else’s presentation tips

are never as good as mine! :)

Actually, this stuff is great. Nice, clean simple and obvious – like all the best tips.
I particularly like the ideas about starting with a big sheet of paper (and never a computer!) when you plan your presentation so you can see how the whole thing fits together at once. Having an over-view of your presentation is critical to getting a good structure; it’s something that is pretty easy to cover on presentation skills training though as the benefits are obvious once people see it working for them.

Personally, I start with an A0 flipchart sized piece. One tip when you do that is to avoid the temptation to grab a bigger pen at the same time: if you do that you give up the advantage of having a bigger piece of paper in the first place. The whole idea of doing things on a big sheet is to take away any form of inhibition and you can best do that if your writing doesn’t get crowded to the sides of the page.

Cheers….. Simon
